Join Cascade Horizons Group and Cascade Audubon for the National Audubon’s 117th Christmas Bird Count on New Year’s Eve day. Come to our briefing starting at 8:00 a.m. at The Ashley Inn where you will partner up and receive your count area assignments and instructions. At noon we will break for a chili potluck lunch. Then after we have warmed up and filled our bellies we will head back out to count birds. Please contact Shauna Arnold @ skhines@frontiernet.net or 634-6906 if you plan to join us.

What? There is a party? Join us from 5-7:00 p.m. for an early New Year’s Eve party at the Cascade Cultural Arts Center. Join us for birding games, activities, and door prizes. Enjoy talking birds with fellow birders. Bring an appetizer or finger food to share. Hot drinks will be provided.

What is the Christmas Bird Count? The Christmas Bird Count (CBC) is a long-standing program of the National Audubon Society, with over 100 years of citizen science involvement. It is an early-winter bird census, where thousands of volunteers across the US, Canada and many countries in the Western Hemisphere, go out over a 24 hour period on one calendar day to count birds.
